Bethany Louise Mooney established herself as a key figure in the Australian team long before her international debut, often serving as the back-up wicketkeeper to Alyssa Healy.
She is now celebrated as a World Cup-winning player, a two-time recipient of the Belinda Clark Award, and one of the most prominent batters in women’s cricket.
Making waves with standout performances for Australia A and at the domestic level in 2015, Mooney was elevated to the national squad as a specialist batter. She made her international debut during the 2015-16 T20 series against India.
In 2017, she claimed her maiden Women’s One Day International hundred against New Zealand and subsequently earned her Test debut in a series against England.
Securing her place at the forefront of Australia’s T20 lineup, she played a pivotal role in the side’s 2018 T20 World Cup triumph. She then elevated her game further in 2020, claiming player of the tournament honors as Australia secured their fifth T20 World Cup title.
A two-time WBBL champion with Brisbane Heat, Mooney’s influence extended to Perth Scorchers in WBBL|07, where her contributions were instrumental in clinching the trophy.
Her ability to perform on the biggest stages continued to shine through Australia’s Commonwealth Games gold in 2022 and their T20 World Cup success in South Africa in 2023.
Mooney has received the prestigious Belinda Clark Award twice, in the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons, underscoring her sustained excellence.
