Umar Akmal: A Promising Career Takes Shape
Even though Umar Akmal is still relatively young at 24, he has already etched his name as a key player in the international cricket scene. As a wicketkeeper-batsman, he has made more than 100 appearances in one-day internationals.
The younger brother of Kamran Akmal, Umar made his ODI debut in August 2009. Impressive from the very start, he scored an unbeaten 102 in his third match, making a significant impact on the international stage.
His maiden Test match came later the same year, and Akmal went on to play 16 five-day matches, with his last appearance in September 2011. With his impressive performances in both ODIs and Tests, Akmal has proven himself as a force to be reckoned with.
A regular fixture at the ICC Cricket World Cup, Akmal has already made his mark on the biggest stage in cricket. He played alongside his brother in the 2011 tournament, racking up an impressive 240 runs at an average of 48.
