Chamari Athapaththu has been a key figure in Sri Lanka’s batting lineup for over a decade, delivering consistent performances in both ODIs and T20Is.

She made her T20I debut against India in June 2009, and less than a year later, she made her ODI debut, marking the beginning of a successful international career.

Athapaththu’s impressive record is highlighted by her maiden international century against Ireland, achieved in just her seventh ODI innings, making her the first and only Sri Lankan woman to have scored an ODI hundred.

One of her most notable performances was her spectacular 178 not out against Australia in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, which became the second-highest individual score in Women’s World Cup history.

Athapaththu has also had successful stints in various leagues, and her brilliant all-round season for Sydney Thunder in 2023 earned her the player of the tournament award, securing her a long-term deal with the club.
