Gus Alexander Patrick Atkinson is a tall seam bowler from Surrey who rapidly emerged on the international stage. His rise began as a surprise inclusion in England’s 2023 ODI World Cup squad, where he eventually earned a place in the playing XI as the tournament progressed.
Atkinson made his Test debut at Lord’s during James Anderson’s final match for England against the West Indies. He produced a standout performance in that debut, claiming 12 wickets for the match with figures of 7-45 and 5-61.
His impact at the Home of Cricket continued just two months later when he added a Test century to his professional achievements, scoring 118 runs against Sri Lanka at the same venue.
