Jemma Louise Barsby stands out as an incredibly gifted allrounder, possessing the rare ability to bowl effectively with either her right or left arm.
Her Women’s Big Bash League journey saw her claim a championship with Brisbane in WBBL|04 before two seasons in the west with Perth. Barsby then joined Adelaide for WBBL|07, making an immediate impact. In her inaugural season, she showcased exceptional control, recording the second-best bowling economy among her teammates and delivering one of only four maiden overs for the team across her nine matches.
Beyond her on-field prowess, Barsby is a profound leader and an inspiration. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 19, she has transformed her personal challenge into a platform for good, serving as an ambassador for various charities and setting a powerful example for aspiring athletes.
Cricket runs deep in her family, with Jemma being the daughter of former Queensland batsman and coach, Trevor Barsby. Her own senior career began remarkably early, making her Women’s National Cricket League debut for Queensland in the 2010-11 season at just 15 years old. Today, she commands the South Australian side as captain while continuing to excel in the WBBL for Adelaide.
