About Cameron Timothy Bancroft

Cameron Timothy Bancroft is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter who established himself as a prominent figure in Australian cricket. A former representative for the Australia Under-19 team, he made his List-A debut for Western Australia in 2011. His first-class introduction followed in the 2013-14 season, where he featured in 11 matches as an opening batsman, helping the Warriors reach the Sheffield Shield final.

Bancroft earned his Test cricket debut ahead of the 2017-18 Ashes series. He demonstrated his capabilities on the international stage early on, notably posting an unbeaten 82 in his second innings at Brisbane. Following the successful Ashes campaign, he joined the tour of South Africa, where he became central to a major controversy during the Cape Town Test. Consequently, he was issued a nine-month ban.

Upon his return to professional cricket, Bancroft regained national contention, earning a selection for the 2019 Ashes in the United Kingdom, where he opened the batting alongside David Warner in the first two Tests. Back at the state level, he re-established himself as a prolific run-scorer and expanded his versatility by adapting his game to become an effective T20 player.

Bancroft was an integral member of the Western Australia squad during their historic run of six titles between the 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons, contributing to five of those championship victories. He missed the final Sheffield Shield decider of that period due to a concussion sustained in a bicycle accident.
