Oliver John Peake, a left-handed batter from Geelong, has been a rising star in the cricket world since bursting onto the scene at the 2024 U19 World Cup at just 17 years old.
Filling a late injury replacement role in South Africa, Peake made a swift and lasting impression with a string of impressive performances, including 25 not out against England, a crucial 49 against Pakistan in the semi-final, and 46no against India in Australia’s win in the final.
His form in the Sheffield Shield for Victoria in 2024-25 was similarly impressive, culminating in a half-century on debut that earned him an invitation to join Australia’s Test squad for a stint in early 2025 on a Sri Lanka tour.
Peake received his first full contracts with Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades for the 2025-26 summer, and was subsequently drafted into the Australia A side.
The young batsman cemented his status as a cricket sensation with a last-ball six to win a game for the Melbourne Renegades in Perth, before embarking on another tour – this time as captain of the Australia U19 side in Namibia and Zimbabwe in early 2026, following in the footsteps of his father Clinton Peake, who had previously captained the Australian U19 squad in 1994-95.
In winter 2026, Peake’s exceptional form earned him a first official call-up to the senior Australian side, as he was named in the ODI squad to play a three-match series with Pakistan.
