Sarfraz Ahmed: A Rise to Prominence in International Cricket
For many cricket enthusiasts, the name Sarfraz Ahmed is synonymous with exceptional wicket-keeping skills and impressive batting ability. His journey to the pinnacle of international cricket began in 2006, when he was appointed captain of the Pakistan team that conquered the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
One year later, in 2007, Ahmed made his highly anticipated one-day international debut against India, showcasing his potential as a wicketkeeper-batsman. He would go on to experience periods of being part of the ODI team and eventually becoming a regular fixture.
A significant turning point in Ahmed’s career came when he was recalled to the side for the October one-day series against Australia. His impressive display earned him a remarkable career-best score of 65 in Dubai, leaving a lasting imprint on the series.
This stellar form was further complemented by an outstanding performance in Test matches, which saw him cement his position in Pakistan’s team. Since his recall to the side in January 2014, Ahmed has demonstrated remarkable consistency, scoring three centuries and four half-centuries in the process.
This exceptional run will be put to the test as Ahmed prepares to represent Pakistan in his first ICC Cricket World Cup.
