Shakib Al Hasan is widely regarded as Bangladesh’s most statistically successful cricketer, having represented his country in multiple cricketing formats over an illustrious career. His journey to international prominence began with his debut for the under-19 team, followed by his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe in August 2006. A year later, he made his Test cricket debut, marking the start of a career that would define an era for Bangladeshi cricket.
Known for his versatility as an allrounder, Shakib has consistently contributed both with bat and ball. His leadership and skills were instrumental in Bangladesh’s 4-0 ODI series victory over New Zealand in 2010, a triumph that underscored his importance to the team. A regular figure in Bangladesh’s senior squad, he participated in the 2007 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cups, showcasing his adaptability at the highest level.
During his World Cup campaigns, Shakib has claimed three half-centuries, including a top score of 57* against England in 2007. His ability to perform under pressure has been a defining trait. In November 2014, he achieved a historic milestone by becoming only the third player in Test history to score a century and take 10 wickets in the same match, a feat that solidified his legacy as a dual-threat cricketer.
Over the course of his career, Shakib has played a pivotal role in elevating Bangladesh’s stature in international cricket, combining technical mastery with consistent performances to inspire future generations of players in his home country.
