About Jayasundara Ranasinghe Mudiyanselage Vikum Sanjaya Bandara
A sharp right-arm seamer, Jayasundara Ranasinghe Mudiyanselage Vikum Sanjaya Bandara, known as Vikum Sanjaya, first grabbed the attention of Sri Lankan national selectors in December 2016. Representing the Burgher Recreation Club, Sanjaya delivered a standout first-class performance, claiming impressive figures of 7 for 102 to put himself firmly on the national radar.
His strong domestic showings earned him a place in Sri Lanka’s Test squad for the tour of South Africa in late 2016. Although he traveled with the team, he did not receive a Test cap during the series.
Sanjaya’s international breakthrough came shortly after in 2017, when he made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against Australia. On his debut, the right-arm quick registered bowling figures of 1 for 35, marking his entry into international cricket.
