Wesley Austin Agar joined South Australia on a rookie contract for the 2016-17 season after relocating from Victoria earlier in the 2015-16 campaign.
As the younger sibling of all-rounder Ashton Agar, he earned a place in Australia’s 2016 U19 ICC World Cup squad, although the team withdrew from the tournament held in Bangladesh.
The emerging fast bowler shone in the 2016 Matador BBQs Cup, claiming eight wickets across five matches.
His performances earned him a spot with the Adelaide Strikers, where he featured in 56 matches over eight seasons before being traded to the Sydney Thunder ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Agar represented Australia in two ODIs during the 2021 West Indies tour, with cap No. 231 presented to him personally by brother Ashton Agar.
His red-ball credentials have also grown steadily, highlighted by 26 wickets in the 2023-24 Marsh Sheffield Shield season, including career-best figures of 6-42 against Western Australia.
