Afghanistan has made significant changes to their lineup for their one-off Test against India, with star players Rashid Khan and Ibrahim Zadran being rested.

The decision comes after Rashid revealed last month that he had been asked to reduce his red-ball cricket by doctors, citing his high workload as a concern. This concern was exemplified when Rashid’s doctor was ‘shocked’ after he bowled 67 overs in one innings.

Hashmatullah Shahidi will continue to captain both the Test and ODI sides, which will face India in New Chandigarh from June 6 to 10 and June 13 to 20 respectively.

Afghanistan are not part of the World Test Championship, and with Rashid restricted in his action in the format, it is likely that he will return for the three-match ODI series against India.

The three-match ODI series will mark a new chapter for Afghanistan and India, with Afghanistan aiming to bounce back from their 2018 Test debut loss to India by an innings and 262 runs.

New Comers in the Squad

The changes in the lineup also see the addition of new players, including Nangyal Kharotai, Bilal Sami, and Rahmanullah Zadran. Qais Ahmad also returns to the side.
